Going Ashore

Shore Excursions

Going ashore is half the fun of going on a cruise. And, we've got some optional tours at every port that are bound to intrigue you and offer a little something different in the way of excitement. But you don't have to take one of the optional tours. You can go ashore and discover everything for yourself. Or, you can just stay on board. What you do is entirely up to you.

Before we dock at each port of call, there'll be a brief lecture to familiarize you with the port, its highlights and the cost and itineraries of the various shore excursions offered. Arrangements can be made at the Shore Tour Desk. The optional tours are operated by independent contractors. Carnival is not responsible for their actions.

Boarding Card

A Boarding Card will be placed in your cabin upon arrival. This card identifies you as a Carnival guest and must be carried with you along with picture identification when you go ashore. Since the ship is closed to the public while docked at the various ports of call, you'll have to show your Boarding Card and picture I.D. to the officer on duty in order to return on board.

Car Rentals

Cars can be rented through the Information Desk on board the ship (not available at certain ports).

Will I Have Any Problems with Money Ashore?

U.S. currency and traveler's checks are accepted in most ports of call we visit. Store owners will honor most credit cards, but personal checks are not usually accepted.

Can I Use the Ship in Port?

Yes, by all means. While in port, your ship is still your home, and you should feel free to leave or return any time of day or night. Think of it as your home away from home.

Language Is No Barrier

You won't encounter any language problems. Almost everyone speaks English, even if it is with a slightly different accent.

Residents of our ports of call are friendly people, anxious to serve you. They recognize the importance of tourism to their economy, and do their best to make you feel welcome.
