Ray began his travel career in 1989 after  retiring from the oil industry. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University. While working in the oil business Ray traveled throughout the world and developed a keen interest in travel to unusual places. After starting West University Travel with his wife, Cecile, he developed an area of expertise in selling cruise groups, specialty cruising such as European barge and river cruising and African Safaris.
