I totally enjoyed my stay at The Kingfisher Spa and their complete Spa Experience such as the Pacific Mermaid (total body pampering for women), Glacial Clay or Thalassotherapy Body Wraps, Sea Body Polish, Balancing Facials, Hydrotherapy Baths, Reflexology, Seascape Manicures, pedicures and more. I combined my treatments with a mist steam room, cedar sauna, outdoor hot tub and heated pool with a neck and shoulder waterfall massage. There was also a time for a work out in the ocean view fitness center.

From our patio we watched the eagles soaring overhead, and kept our eyes on the ocean for sea lions playing in the bay. Brant Ducks, blue Herons and other marvelous wildlife are just passing by. Day activities include orca whale and bear watching excursions, canoeing, sailing and sea kayaking; mountain biking, horseback riding, freshwater or seawater sport fishing, and for the really daring, scuba diving. In the winter, you can find downhill cross-country skiing, tubing and snow shoeing on nearby Mt. Washington.

Getting to Kingfisher from Houston is a non-stop flight on Continental to Vancouver, and then a regional flight to Comox. The Resort is a short 15-minute ride from the airport. Comox has some fun shopping and good restaurants, although the restaurant at the Kingfisher provides great food, ocean side, where you can take in the never tiring sights of the water and during the summer you can watch the cruise ships go by, back and forth to Alaska.

Want to combine this with a visit to Victoria Canada? How about a "Ride the Rails and Spa" package that includes the train from Victoria, 2-nights accommodations, transfers from Courtney train station to hotel and back, a spa treatment, a 3-course dinner, breakfast and unlimited use of all the resort amenities. Add this to any pre- or post Alaska cruise and you have a terrific Alaska/Canadian vacation!!
